Yup... David, Al and Kevin! (watch 1-2-3 Penguins someday and you'll
"get" that last one) have now made the Tagsphere a native part of press
releases.
So what's the big deal? Well, for those of you watching, a PR firm on the other shore created an interesting PR2.0 template... a sort of definition of or spec for socially connected press releases.
The cool part? A lot of what SHIFT defined is right-on... but they forgot to mention one little element: Where the heck do you PUBLISH a PR2.0-enabled release?
That's where PRWeb came through... and did so in something like 2 days!
PRWeb is now THE only socially networked, Web2.0 press release distribution platform. Period. These guys definitely "get it" when it comes to serving the PR and optimized content universe.
So now when you post a release, you can define Technorati Tags, so you increase the social presence of your content. In addition, there's a Tag Cloud that shows you, in real-time, what the most popular "click-terms" are on PRWeb. If you're building PR contentto increase viewership of whatever the heck it is you're pitching, this is a must-have application.
Let me know your thoughts, and check it out!
PRWeb announced a set of new features to make it easier for customers to send a release. These features make it easier to for customers to upload their press releases, specify a distribution time and increase the SEO value of images to enhance the visibility of customer's news.

This is a introductory guide to "tags" on Technorati, the blogosphere search engine, which started using them in mid-January 2005. It's a practical introduction rather than a tutorial (ending with some personal thoughts about tags), but I'll summarise the basics about Technorati tags and how to use them in your own blog posts - stuff I've learned from digging around, playing around and, as you'll see later, much tearing out of hair. I do assume knowledge of basic HTML (for which see e.g. this or this), but if anything needs to be made clearer or expanded upon, please post a comment and I'll try to help.

Hi Gene,
And thanks for your comments.
Technorati is one of the most trafficked "social tagging" site in the universe.
Visitors to the site search by tags to find relevant info and related blogs, posts and sites.
By putting keywords in your Technorati tags space on your press release (you're allowed up to 10 tags), you increase your distribution, potential syndication, and searchability of your PRWeb press release.
It's important. When PRWeb opened the door to social media tagging, they turned PR from a one-way-street to a big, 4-way boulevard. Now your visitors can talk-back to you, and start a conversation. And that does wonders for your businesses feedback loop.
Let me know if that makes it any clearer.
Best,
ME

I have to say that I am still not so clear on what the Technorati tags do to the press release. It would be help to see a demo which would more clearly explain. I have not yet got them on our http://www.travelswise.com website yet. Can you give more details?
Gene
